In honour of the new series of Gilmore Girls, I’m taking on the mighty Gilmore Girls Reading Challenge! For anyone unfamiliar with the show, Rory Gilmore is a proudly bookish character who is often depicted with her nose happily buried in a book.
The Rory Gilmore Reading Challenge is a list of 339 texts mentioned over the course of seven Gilmore Girls seasons. Inspired by The Nut Free Nerd, I’m going to pit myself against the list and see just how many of these 339 books I’ve read. The titles on the list that have been struck through are the ones that I’ve read.
We’re about to embark on quite an extensive list of titles, so…

I’m actually surprised at how many of these books I’ve read. While I am a bookworm, I’m not all that much of a book nerd, and there are many, many fine works of literature that I’ve yet to read (and many, many works of absolute rot that I’ve read instead). I have been inspired to pick up a few titles on this list, though!
So, how did you fare against the Gilmore Girls Reading Challenge?
Seven, I’ve only read seven. I’m not much of a classics reader, and even the nonclassics on this list (like Stephen King) weren’t ones I’ve read. I think Rory Gilmore needs to read some books off the Wendy list. 🙂
Ha, yes! I’ll be honest, there were books on this list I’d never even heard of, and more than a few were read only because the teacher said I had to! If only Rory had read more fantasy – I would have been set! ?
