It’s been a long, cold, lonely winter here in the Northern Hemisphere, and it finally feels like we are starting to turn the corner and head on into spring. I don’t know about you, but I’ve spent most of the past few months curled up on the couch under a mound of blankets, trying desperately to reminder what it feels like to be warm and dry!
Thankfully it seems like all those gloomy, miserable winter days are finally behind us, at least here on the west coast! Inspired by blossoms on the trees, warm breezes and bright blue skies, here is a little haiku, from me to you.
I hope this weekend brings some spring much-missed sunshine to your neighbourhood – but don’t forget that sunscreen! 🙂
Oh, yes. Spring is fashionably late this year. Finally, we are turning the corner with you, here in VA. Enjoy the sun!
This winter sure has been a long one, I’m definitely not sad to see it go! 🙂
Oh yes, those flirty spring breezes… our weather has been up and down and all around… just can’t seem to settle into spring. Thank you for your poem! xo
Oh, here’s hoping that spring will win out eventually! 🙂
Yay for warm, gentle breezes! We definitely get more sun than you all on the opposite coast and south at that, but I’m glad we’re all enjoying spring now. Have a sunshin-y weekend! :0)
I’ll take your “Warm gentle breezes,” we are all ready–Thanks for the lovely haiku Jane!
Hooray for the sun! After just a couple of overcast days I feel gloomy. I’m glad the sun is coming back to your part of the world! Ruth, thereisnosuchthingasagodforsakentown.blogspot.com
Perfect title for this post, Jane (and a favorite George Harrison song). Our Japanese cherry and American red bud trees are in bloom right now. It’s time to come out of that cavern!
Yes – one of my favourites, too! I’ve been humming it often these days. 🙂
I am in the mood for something other than those dark caves of winter!
Oh yes, me too! Alas the rain has returned here – but I’m holding on to those memories of sunshine!
We have warm days back, and I’m hoping they will stay. Love your “lure from dark caverns”! Enjoy!
Yes – let’s hope the sun is here to stay!
It really is stunning here in Vancouver these days! I was hot walking home from work yesterday.
It’s amazing!!! And people keep saying it’s supposed to start raining again. But I refuse to believe that. 😉
Lovely haiku. The picture makes it idyllic.
Thank you!
This is perfect for this week! It has been cold and dark and wet, and we finally get to enjoy some sunshine!
We most definitely deserve some sun after this long, cold, dreary winter!
You got that song going in my head, too, Jane 🙂 Beautiful photo. This weather makes me want to take pictures of everything (before I head back to my dark cavern when it gets too hot!).
0Oh yes – I’m sure I’ll be moaning about the heat in a few months! ;-
Yes. Ahh…spring might have finally arrived. (MIGHT HAVE…I’m not trusting…yet…)
Ha, yes, it’s actually raining here again!
Jane, I like the backstory you provided explaining what winter was like for you and why you are excited for spring. Would you be interested in offering your image poem for my spring gallery? The invitation is at my PF post: http://beyondliteracylink.blogspot.com/2018/04/spring-salutations-with-invitation-to.html. Also, Alice Nine created an inspirational poster using one of your quotes. It is on her PF post. I told her that I would like to have that digital in the gallery too. Please let me know if this is fine with you.
Oh, that’s awesome! That’s absolutely fine with me – share the love!
I’ve been following the siren song of spring out and about. What a joy to emerge from the dark cavern of winter into springlike breezes! Your haiku is perfect!
I’m actually curled back up in my cavern as it pours rain outside – oh well, the sun will come back again one day, I’m sure!
I had lovely sunshine on Saturday for my son’s soccer game, and than WHAM! a kid on the other team went down. Hard. And screamed. And screamed. He couldn’t get up. The ambulance came. We’ve since learned he’s broken his upper arm and requires surgery. Ugh! Rain can be safer.
That’s why I avoid sports – far too dangerous! 😉
