Red and orange, yellow, gold,
Colours vibrant, colours bold,
Light the city streets ablaze
And herald chilly autumn days.
A short and sweet poem to celebrate the beginning of autumn! The street I walk along every day between the train station and my apartment is lined with tall trees that erupt into a glorious celebration of colour every autumn.I always feel like this over-the-top display helps ease us out of the dog days of summer and gives us one last beautiful hurrah before the long, gray, dreary days of winter come again! It’s as if nature is saying, “I’m sorry that winter is so dreadful, so here’s a little something to cheer you up!”
Have a great week, everyone!
Exactly the way it goes, Jane! I love walking or driving down our tree-lined streets that “light the city streets ablaze”.
What a perfect little Autumn ditty, Jane. You have a great week, too! I hope those colours keep you warm just a little longer.
Such a fun autumn poem! I’m looking forward to the red, orange, yellow, and gold… we’ve got a hint right now.

Love those autumn colors — my favorite season of the year. Thanks for the uplifting poem. 🙂
I miss the fall leaves! Thank you for sharing.
The changes have begun here–one day a tree is green and the next it’s three colors! Enjoy it all!
Oh, I love the walking rythmn of this poem! It’s one you could say in your head while walking to the train. Nice job! And, it’s pretty.
And your poem offers a bit of cheer, too! Autumn hasn’t quite reached us down here in the Midwest (still have summer temps), but I’m looking forward to a vibrant display of leaves soon!
So excited for the colors and the chill!
Lovely!
I LOVE when the trees seem to glow with light!
Thanks for this celebratory Autumn poem and beautiful image of leaves Jane, Happy Fall!
