If you want to catch up on my first podcast post, you can check it out here.
As I mentioned my previous podcast post, I spend about two hours each day on transit, which gives me plenty of time to listen to podcasts. Here are a few series that I’ve been enjoying recently.
What if we told you that with zero experience and only a few hundred dollars down, this podcast could change your life? Well, we’d be lying. This season on The Dream, Jane Marie dives into the world of pyramid schemes, multi-level marketing, and all the other businesses that require their members to recruit their nearest and dearest in hopes of a commission.
Host Jane Marie takes listeners on a fascinating dive into the world of multi-level marketing (think Mary Kay, Avon, Amway and the like), looking both at the companies behind the schemes, and the countless ordinary people who invest their time, money. hopes and dreams in them, looking for fame, fortune, or just a better life for their families.
Stuff You Missed in History Class
It’s no secret that I am a big time history nerd (after all, I did win the Grade 12 History prize for top student, and my BA was in history), and I passionately believe that history really is fascinating, despite what your dry, boring textbooks might have had you believe. Hosts Tracy and Holly agree with me whole heartedly, and their podcast manages to be thoroughly researched and highly informative, while also being really, really interesting. Definitely worth listening to if you’re curious at all about history!
Extraordinary first person stories from around the world.
If you’re looking for shorter pieces to listen to, this is an excellent podcast that features incredible stories from all around the world. I’ve only recently started listening, but I’ve already heard several stories that left me amazed. I particularly appreciate the series’ global perspective – so far I’ve listened to stories from Italy, Canada, Australia, and several African nations.
Disgraceland is a new true crime podcast about musicians getting away with murder … If you love true crime and you love music get ready to love Disgraceland.
This is perhaps the most adult-oriented of any of the podcasts I listen to, and because of its sometimes explicit content, it is not appropriate for younger listeners. Host and creator Jake Brennan looks at the complicated and often deeply troubled lives of some of music’s biggest stars, as well as lesser-known, but no less intriguing, artists. Some of these stories are dark and violent, others are profoundly sad, but all are fascinating, and fascinatingly told.
