I would love to get back into a regular blogging schedule now that the holidays are behind us and a new year has begun, but the onset of teething and the general unhappiness that that brings makes scheduling anything a challenge indeed.
For now, at least, I’ll do my best to keep my poor little blog alive as best I can, and today I’m tackling an interesting book tag I discovered on Novelties. Thanks so much for sharing this one, Siobhan!

Author Lineup
Name the top three authors you would like to meet.
I hesitate a bit with this one – there’s a saying that you should never meet your idols, lest their reality not live up to your expectations. That being said, I’d be interested in meeting or at least listening to a presentation by Erik Larson, Bill Bryson and/or Raymond E. Feist – the first two are fascinating nonfiction authors who I’m sure would have many interesting (and in the case of Bryson, hilarious) stories to share, while Feist is my partner’s favourite author, and I’d love to be able to present him with a personalized book!
The Official Schedule
How do you determine what books you’re going to read next?
I am a 100% mood reader. I don’t schedule what I’m going to read, nor do I really subscribe to the idea of a TBR list. I typically scan my bookshelf for something that catches my eye, read a few pages, and see if it’s something that I can sink my teeth into at that moment. That’s really all there is to it.
ARC Drops
What ARC would you wait hours in line for?
There isn’t a single book on God’s green earth that I would wait hours in line for. I am notorious for never waiting in line for anything, I’m far too impatient! I’ve never lined up for a book or a film in my life, I’m content to wait until the hype inevitably dies down and I can experience it at my leisure.
The Swag!
What bookish merch/pre-order incentives/etc. is your favorite?
The books I gravitate towards rarely offer merch (especially since I tend to read books years after they first come out), and I don’t tend to pre-order books – I find most of my reads at the thrift store or second-hand bookstore!
The Panels
What topic would you love to see some of your favorite authors talk about?
I would love to hear some of my favourite nonfiction authors talk about how the research their books, as well as how they balance historical fact with creative license and interpretation. How much conjecture and supposition is too much when it comes to narrative nonfiction?
Yallfest, Yallwest, Bookcon/BookExpo, YALC, Etc.
What book festival/con would you go to if you had the choice?
I would love to be able to attend the big summer ALA conferences – I went to an ALA midwinter conference while in library school and it was such an amazing experience. One of the challenges of being a Canadian librarian/author is that most of the big conferences are so far away, and travel and accommodation costs, on top of the conference registration fees, make attending most conferences extremely expensive and out of reach. But hopefully someday I’ll make it out to a conference!
Please feel free to tack a stab at this tag if it interests you – I’d love to hear your thoughts!
