In September 2018 the Raincity Software Engineer and I went on one of the best holidays we’ve had in our 18 years together. We flew to Halifax, Nova Scotia, where we rented a car and drove through Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island. We camped, we stayed in hotels and b&bs and Airbnbs, we explored cities and towns and teeny tiny villages we struggled to find with a map. We ate incredible food, we tasted spectacular booze (I discovered a newfound passion for craft cider), we learned a lot about the history of our country and we met some of the nicest people we’ve ever had a chance to meet. It was a wonderful, wonderful three weeks, and I would highly, highly recommend everyone visit the maritime provinces at least once in their lifetime.
Without a doubt, Halifax was the star of the show for me – I really did fall in love with the city, and one of my favourite aspects of it was The Board Room Cafe – an adorable little board game cafe that we managed to visit three times in as many days. You pay a super affordable entrance fee (only $6/person) and you can hang out all day long and play some of their 600+ games! They also have snacks and sandwiches and craft beer, and it’s so much fun! They have such a broad range of games, too – the R.S.E. is a board game wizard, a fiercely competitive and brilliant strategist. I…like to play “Guess Who” and “Candyland”. The Board Game Cafe had games for both of us.
And no, this post is not in any way sponsored – we just really enjoyed the time we spent at this establishment so much! So of course we had to bring home a souvenir to remind us of all the fun we had in Halifax.
Do you play board games? Are you a strategist, like the R.S.E., or a more casual player, like me?
September in the Maritimes is awesome! I love Halifax too, such an amazing city. And hey, I remember seeing you drive by me in Charlottetown that day 😉 lol.
