The Book Blogger Hop is a weekly writing prompt hosted by The Coffee Addicted Writer, and this week’s offering is very practical. We’re talking all about our blogging platforms, and I’ll just start off with a confession. I am not very technically proficient. In fact, I’m pretty useless when it comes to all things technical. I use WordPress for my blog because it’s fairly straightforward and allows me to create my posts without having to have any coding knowledge or expertise. And when I can’t figure something out, the Raincity Software Engineer has my back.
I originally started with a free wordpress website, but a few years ago I decided to invest in myself, take the plunge and purchase my own domain name – and thus www.raincitylibrarian.ca was born! I purchased a premade blog template from Etsy, and created my own blog header using Canva. I create all of my blog graphics again with Canva, and use Pixabay to source royalty-free photographs. I’m about as skilled a photographer as I am a website developer, so I’m thankful for photographers who graciously share their beautiful work.
I wish I had more to say on this topic, but the reality is that I am almost completely useless on the technical side of being a blogger. One day I’d love to have a beautiful author website, but until that day comes, I’ll stick with my sweet, simple little blog.
