I know I’ve mentioned my toddler’s obsession with vehicles, but have I shared his other major obsession? It’s dogs. This kid is absolutely in love with every dog he sees. He doesn’t go towards them, which I appreciate, he just points at them and squeals with pure delight, his face beaming. Dog owners absolutely love him, his joy is so infectious.
We read a lot of dog-themed books every week, so I thought I’d share a couple of our recent favourites.
Such a classic – Harry the dog hates having baths, so he hides his wash brush and runs away. He gets dirtier and dirtier, until he’s so dirty that his family doesn’t recognize him! Oh, poor Harry! My toddler loves getting dirty, and hasn’t been as fond of baths recently, so this couldn’t be more fitting.
Who doesn’t love Sandra Boynton? We have constantly growing collection of her lovely little board books, and this is definitely a new favourite. Just look at those cute doggies!!
I have used this book in my storytimes for years, it’s such a great book for encourage numeracy and color vocabulary. A big part of building my home library has been slowly buying copies all my favourite library storytime books!
Do you have a little dog lover at home or at work? Are there any doggie books you would recommend me pick up?
Have a great week, friends!
Smelly Louis. Catherine Rayner one of my faves too!:)
