Searching for my name in a library catalogue and seeing my books pop up on the screen is the thrill of a lifetime. Library budgets are often stretched thin, and so many books are published each and every month. The fact that some librarian somewhere considers my books worth purchasing for their collection is a thrill and an honour, and something I do not take lightly.
My newest book, ANIMALS MOVE, doesn’t come out until later this month, but I’ve already seen it pop on in two library catalogies, on opposite sides of the country.
The biggest library system in Canada, the Toronto Public Library, has ordered a copy of ANIMALS MOVE for each of their branches. That might not sound like a lot, until you realize that the system has over 90 branches! My local library system is considered big by Canadian standards, but we have nowhere near that many locations. Toronto is BIG.
Back here in British Columbia, in the beautiful Interior, we have the Okanagan Regional Library system, which has kindly and graciously ordered 5 copies, which I really hope families enjoy reading together!
ORL’s service area includes the beautiful city of Kelowna, famed for its lake, and for the many world-class wineries in the area. We actually went on a mini holiday there back in November, and discovered they are also home to some amazing cideries, using local harvests to create delicious fruit ciders. If you’re ever in BC, make the trek out there, you won’t be disappointed!
A major thank you to these library systems for their early support of ANIMALS MOVE – it is appreciated more than they could ever know.
Super exciting – Love the cover!
Thank you! Me too, it’s so full of life and movement. And everyone knows how much librarians love cats. 🙂
