A big, huge thanks to fellow Canadian youth services librarian and picture book lover Michelle at Fab Book Reviews for her kind words about ANIMALS MOVE!
I am always so thankful any time someone shares their thoughts on any of the books I write, but it’s particularly meaningful when I get positive feedback from a fellow librarian or educator. Despite what some people might think (casting a stink eye at the constant influx of celebrity-penned picture books that are the bane of my professional existence) writing picture books isn’t easy, and writing picture books that are both fun to read and effectively support specific learning goals can be a challenge. Books for the littlest readers are deceptively simple. With such a limited word count, each and every word must be chosen with great care. It’s fun work, and incredibly meaningful, but it’s not as easy as it might look.
It’s all the more rewarding when fellow literacy advocates find value in the works I create, and recommend them to their peers and patrons. The publishing world sure can knock you about sometimes, and reviews like this help make it all worthwhile. Thanks so much, friend!
