I love a good story time outline! Here’s a simple food-themed story time outline featuring my most recent picture book, BUNNY LOVES BEANS. This interactive, high-energy program would be great for toddler, preschool or family story times – which I have to admit have always been my favourites.

Hello Song: Bread and Butter
Book 1: BUNNY LOVES BEANS (of course!)
Finger Plays / Hand Rhymes: Fruit Salad / Knife, Fork, Spoon, Spatula!
Book 2: Every Color Soup
Felt / Toy / Realia Song: 1, 2, 3, 4 – Someone’s at the kitchen door : This interactive chant works well with food-shaped felt pieces, plastic toy food, or event real fruits and vegetables! Depending on the size of your group, each child can pick a favourite food item and place it on a “plate”, either on the felt board or on the floor.
Movement Songs: Bananas Unite! / Green Zucchini (play on Green Spaghetti) – Kids can shout out different body parts upon which to place the green zucchini!
Goodbye Song: Bread and Butter
